Release the Brakes

Have you ever been driving your car and realized that you’d left the emergency brake on?

Of course.  We all have.  But when we discover the brake is on — do we press harder on the gas pedal?  Of course not!

We simply release the brake… and with no extra effort we go faster.

Going through life is a lot like driving a car.  But unfortunately, most people drive through life with their psychological emergency brake on.  They hold on to negative images of themselves… or suffer the effects of highly emotional events they haven’t yet released.  To cope, they stay in a comfort zone entirely of their own making.

And when they try to achieve their goals, these negative images and preprogrammed comfort zones always cancel out their good intentions—no matter how hard they try.

Call them “blocks” or “limiting beliefs” or “being stuck” — but these images and past hurts are nothing more than driving through life with the emergency brake on.

Successful people, on the other hand, continually move beyond their comfort zone — not by using increased willpower, but by replacing their beliefs about themselves and changing their self image.

They release the brakes — and, just like a car, they instantly go faster.

GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Think of your comfort zone as a prison you live in – a largely self-created prison. It consists of the collection of can’ts, musts, must nots, and other unfounded beliefs formed from all the negative thoughts and decisions you have accumulated and reinforced during your lifetime.

The good news is that you can change your comfort zone. How? In three different ways:

  1. You can use affirmations and positive self-talk to affirm having what you want, doing what you want, and being the way you want.
  2. You can create powerful and compelling new internal images of having, doing, and being what you want.
  3. You can simply change your behaviors

All three of these approaches will begin to shift you out of your old comfort zone.

STOP RE-CREATING THE SAME EXPERIENCE OVER AND OVER!

An important concept that successful people understand is that you are never stuck. You just keep re-creating the same experiences over and over by thinking the same thoughts, maintaining the same beliefs, speaking the same words, and doing the same things.

Too often, we get stuck in an endless look of reinforcing behavior, which keep us stuck in a constant downward spiral.

It goes like this: Our limiting thoughts create images in our mind… and those images govern our behavior… which in turn reinforces that limiting thought.

This is known as the Self-Talk Endless Loop.

As long as you keep complaining about your present circumstances, your mind will focus on it. By continually talking about, thinking about, and writing about the way things are, you are continually reinforcing those very same neural pathways in your brain that got you to where you are today. You are continually sending out the same vibrations that will keep attracting the same people and circumstances that you have already created.

To change this cycle, you must focus instead on thinking, talking, and writing about the new reality you want to create. You must FLOOD your unconscious with thoughts, images and ACTION that match your desired reality.

Then suddenly, instead of your outcomes being predetermined by an endless cycle of reinforced self-doubt and self-talk, you’re free to pursue your goals with new determination and confidence.

If releasing the brakes is something you need to do, realize that it’s difficult to do by yourself.

We need outside influences to break through our habitual ways of thinking and behaving to assist us in restructuring our beliefs, releasing our repressed emotions and connecting with our true selves.

Two of the most powerful methods for doing this are large group awareness trainings and therapy.  If I were to attribute my incredible level of success to any one thing, it would be the hundreds of personal development seminars I’ve attended over the past 40 years.

If you’ve discovered that you’ve been recreating the same outcomes, scenarios, experiences and endless loop of not getting what you want, I’d like to help you break free from this downward spiral.

In fact, one of the most important things I do for participants in my Breakthrough to Success training week is to help them identify these “blocks” that govern their behavior — then replace those blocks with new thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and patterns.

How to Write Headlines That Capture the Attention of Your Ideal Clients

women in business onlineWhether you’re writing a landing page on your website, an article or even an information product your headline is an essential ingredient for success.

Experts tell us you have about 10 seconds or less, to grab your prospect’s attention. Guess what they read first? Your headline.

Here’s how to write headlines that have moxie:

#1 What’s The Purpose?

What are you writing and why?  Are you writing a sales page? If so, what’s the purpose of the sales page? Are you writing an article or blog post?  If so, what do you want the article or post to accomplish?

For example, if it’s a blog post do you want comments? Do you want to new subscribers? What’s your goal or what’s the purpose of the piece you’re writing?  Before you can even begin to write a headline, know your purpose.

#2 Know Your Customer or Reader

Ask yourself the following:

  • Who is your customer?
  • What is their biggest problem or complaint?
  • How will this piece of content solve their problems? If you’re writing a sales page, how will your product or service solve their problem?

#3 Brainstorm Headlines

Brainstorm headline possibilities by writing twenty or so potential headlines. Here are a few ways to write effective headlines:

  • State a benefit – For example, “Lose Weight and Never Gain it Back.”
  • Use numbers and statistics – For example, “Lose Your First Five Pounds in 48 Hours.”
  • Make it newsworthy using words like new, introducing, or announcing – For example, “New Book Shows You How To Lose The Weight You’ve Been Fighting to Get Off.”
  • Make a big promise. – “Lose 20 Pounds This Weekend.”
  • Use a “reasons why” headline – For example, “10 Reasons Why You’re Not Losing Weight.”
  • Pique their curiosity – For example, “The Weight Loss Secret Celebrities Don’t Want You To Know.”

#4 Talk Directly To Your Reader

The word YOU in your headline let’s your reader’s feel as if you’re talking to them specifically and interested in solving their problems.

#5 Watch Your Language.

Use active and emotional language. Active language – language that shows movement and commands attention – compels people to continue reading. It pulls them into your copy. And emotional language attracts attention. For example, How To Lose The Weight You’ve Been Fighting to Lose. There are many emotions to tap into. What emotions is your audience feeling?

If you’re writing sales copy headlines, test and track your top two or three for conversion rates. If you’re writing article headlines, test and track which types of headlines draw more readers. Testing and tracking your headline results will help you fine tune your headline style to meet your reader’s needs and your business goals.

8 Ways Entrepreneurs Can Use Feng Shui for More Business — and More Money

feng shui for women in business onlineOne of the greatest rewards of being an entrepreneur is the ability to call the shots in your business. But, that’s also one of the greatest risks – you’re responsible for all the decisions.

Fortunately, with feng shui, you can use the principles of this ancient technique to help you draw more clients to you, create a harmonious business that attracts business, and builds a financial foundation for your life that gives you more control, greater freedom and feeling of personal achievement.

But how can you put feng shui to work as an entrepreneur? I’ve put together a list of eight ways that feng shui can help generate more flow – and that means more success and more sales for you.

1. Put money first.

When it comes to your business, money should always come first. Why? Well, because you’re in business. Emails can wait, filing can wait, but money can’t.

Write your bills every Monday and every day ask yourself if the activities you’re doing are money-generating. Busy doesn’t always equal financially productive – so do those things that are and delegate the busy work to someone else.

2. Water is wealth.

Make sure you are surrounded by financial energy and that energy’s element is water. Keep a clear, running and full fountain in your office to help keep you relaxed and stimulate business opportunities. North, the business opportunity sector, is also the direction associated with water. Adding metal here will also stimulate water energy – and that stimulates business and money from your business.

3. Have a vision.

What is your symbol of success? If you want to be the world’s best cookbook writer, then wrap some cookbooks in a cover with your name on it. Seeing is believing. Find a symbol that is meaningful for you and keep it where you can prominently see it while you work. Pick a symbol, any symbol and keep it in front of you.

4. Feng shui your website.

Yes, feng shui can even be applied to bytes and pixels! I often see businesses that have websites whose colors conflict, such as red and silver, green and beige, or green and yellow. These are color combinations that fatigue visitors – meaning the website is less sticky and more likely to be abandoned and with fewer repeat visitors.

That’s because these color combinations make your website work against itself – and that gets you nowhere. Select feng shui compatible color combinations. This would include blue, black, and white or yellow, purple, and red, or green, black, and blue. Not sure about your site? 5. Open communication.

Sales depend on making it as easy as possible for the customer to reach you. Get yourself a 1-800 number, a fax number, and a land-line if you’re in business. Interestingly, when I moved from a cell phone as my primary business phone and got all the other lines installed, I began receiving many more calls. Think of it this way: no talk, no sales; more talk, more sales!

6. Get more clients.

Many “solopreneurs” have a poor filing system (if any). Make sure you have a file cabinet with a specified drawer just for client files — and keep your clients in red folders; this energizes the client and keeps them in contact with you (read: repeat customer!).

When you want more clients, have three blank folders on your desk at all times, just ready for the next one. Also, get a label maker and make a label for each new customer. The more respect you give to your customer files, the more customers you’ll have.

7. Beauty pays you.

If you’re a work at home entrepreneur, chances are you may have a less-than-inspiring work area. Invest in your office and make it attractive, organized, and functional. Having a beautiful work space is motivating and encourages creativity.

When you are surrounded by beauty and inspiring views, objects, or artwork, you are more likely to think creatively, come up with new approaches to your business, and be more productive – and that makes you more money!

8. Use the Power of One.

One is the number of opportunity and money from business in feng shui. There is probably one thing that you could do to instantly make a difference in your business. What is it? For some, it would be to create that first product, for others it would mean publishing your book, and for others it might be making sales calls. But, chances are you know the one thing that’s standing in the way of your success. Get to work on just that one thing.

You know what it is.

Do it now and put it ahead of everything else.

Just the act of deciding to leverage this high ROI strategy opens your mind and heart to new opportunities and new relationships. The pieces start to fall into place ~ not by magic ~ rather, your decision jump starts your brain and it gets to work figuring out how to make it happen.

2) Offer to support other people’s joint venture strategies. When you participate you get first hand experiences and examples that you can leverage to kick start your own JV’s. Be the kind of joint venture partner you want to attract. What goes around comes around… get the laws of attraction and reciprocity working in your favour!
