<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Have you ever been driving your car and realized that you&#8217;d left the  emergency brake on?</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Of course.  We all have.  But when we discover the brake is on &#8212;  do we press harder on the gas pedal?  Of course not!</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">We simply release the brake… and with no extra effort we go  <strong><em>faster.</em></strong></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Going through life is a lot like driving a car.  But  unfortunately, most people drive through life with their psychological emergency  brake on.  They hold on to negative images of themselves&#8230; or suffer the  effects of highly emotional events they haven&#8217;t yet released.  To cope, they  stay in a comfort zone entirely of their own making.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">And when they try to achieve their goals, these negative images  and preprogrammed comfort zones always cancel out their good intentions—no  matter how hard they try.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Call them &#8220;blocks&#8221; or &#8220;limiting beliefs&#8221; or &#8220;being stuck&#8221; &#8212; but  these images and past hurts are nothing more than driving through life with the  emergency brake on.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Successful people, on the other hand, continually move beyond  their comfort zone &#8212; <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not</span> by  using increased willpower, but by <strong>replacing their beliefs about  themselves</strong> and <strong>changing their self image.</strong></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">They release the brakes &#8212; and, just like a car, they instantly go  faster.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE</strong></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Think of your comfort zone as a prison you live in – a largely  self-created prison. It consists of the collection of <strong><em>can’ts, musts, must  nots,</em></strong> and other unfounded beliefs formed from all the negative thoughts  and decisions you have accumulated and reinforced during your lifetime.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">The good news is that you can change your comfort zone. How? In  three different ways:</span></p>
<div>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">You can use affirmations and positive self-talk to affirm having what you  want, doing what you want, and being the way you want. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">You can create powerful and compelling new internal images of having, doing,  and being what you want. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">You can simply change your behaviors </span></li>
</ol>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">All three of these approaches will begin to shift you out of your old comfort  zone.</span></div>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>STOP RE-CREATING THE SAME EXPERIENCE OVER AND OVER!</strong></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">An important concept that successful people understand is that you  are never <em>stuck. </em>You just keep re-creating the same experiences over and  over by thinking the same thoughts, maintaining the same beliefs, speaking the  same words, and doing the same things.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Too often, we get stuck in an endless look of reinforcing  behavior, which keep us stuck in a constant downward spiral.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>It goes like this:</strong> Our limiting thoughts create images in  our mind… and those images govern our behavior… which in turn reinforces that  limiting thought.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>This is known as the Self-Talk Endless Loop</strong>.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">As long as you keep complaining about your present circumstances,  your mind will focus on it. By continually talking about, thinking about, and  writing about the way things are, you are continually reinforcing those very  same neural pathways in your brain that got you to where you are today. You are  continually sending out the same vibrations that will keep attracting the same  people and circumstances that you have already created.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">To change this cycle, you must focus instead on thinking, talking,  and writing about the new reality you want to create. You must FLOOD your  unconscious with thoughts, images and ACTION that match your desired  reality.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Then suddenly, instead of your outcomes being predetermined by an  endless cycle of reinforced self-doubt and self-talk, you’re free to pursue your  goals with new determination and confidence.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>If releasing the brakes is something you need to do, realize  that it&#8217;s difficult to do by yourself. </strong></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">We need outside influences to break through our habitual ways of  thinking and behaving to assist us in restructuring our beliefs, releasing our  repressed emotions and connecting with our true selves.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">Two of the most powerful methods for doing this are large group  awareness trainings and therapy.  If I were to attribute my incredible level of  success to any one thing, it would be the hundreds of personal development  seminars I’ve attended over the past 40 years.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-size: medium;">If you&#8217;ve discovered that you&#8217;ve been recreating the same  outcomes, scenarios, experiences and endless loop of not getting what you want,  I&#8217;d like to help you break free from this downward spiral.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><em>Experts tell us you have about 10 seconds or less, to grab your prospect’s attention. Guess what they read first? Your headline.</em></span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Here’s how to write headlines that have moxie:</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>#1 What’s The Purpose?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">What are you writing and why?  Are you writing a sales page? If so, what’s the purpose of the sales page? Are you writing an article or blog post?  If so, what do you want the article or post to accomplish?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">For example, if it’s a blog post do you want comments? Do you want to new subscribers? What’s your goal or what’s the purpose of the piece you’re writing?  Before you can even begin to write a headline, know your purpose.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>#2 Know Your Customer or Reader</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Ask yourself the following:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Who is      your customer?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">What      is their biggest problem or complaint?</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">How      will this piece of content solve their problems? If you’re writing a sales      page, how will your product or service solve their problem?</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>#3 Brainstorm Headlines</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Brainstorm headline possibilities by writing twenty or so potential headlines. Here are a few ways to write effective headlines:</span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">State      a benefit – For example, “Lose Weight and Never Gain it Back.”</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Use      numbers and statistics – For example, “Lose Your First Five Pounds in 48      Hours.”</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Make      it newsworthy using words like new, introducing, or announcing – For      example, “New Book Shows You How To Lose The Weight You’ve Been Fighting      to Get Off.”</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Make a      big promise. – “Lose 20 Pounds This Weekend.”</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Use a      “reasons why” headline – For example, “10 Reasons Why You’re Not Losing      Weight.”</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: medium;">Pique      their curiosity – For example, “The Weight Loss Secret Celebrities Don’t      Want You To Know.”</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>#4 Talk Directly To Your Reader</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The word YOU in your headline let’s your reader’s feel as if you’re talking to them specifically and interested in solving their problems.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>#5 Watch Your Language.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Use active and emotional language. Active language &#8211; language that shows movement and commands attention – compels people to continue reading. It pulls them into your copy. And emotional language attracts attention. For example, How To Lose The Weight You’ve Been Fighting to Lose. There are many emotions to tap into. What emotions is your audience feeling?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">If you’re writing sales copy headlines, test and track your top two or three for conversion rates. If you’re writing article headlines, test and track which types of headlines draw more readers. Testing and tracking your headline results will help you fine tune your headline style to meet your reader’s needs and your business goals.<br />

But, that&#8217;s also one of the greatest risks &#8211; you&#8217;re responsible for all the decisions. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Fortunately, with feng shui, you can use the principles of this ancient technique to help you draw more clients to you, create a harmonious business that attracts business, and builds a financial foundation for your life that gives you more control, greater freedom and feeling of personal achievement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">But how can you put feng shui to work as an entrepreneur? I&#8217;ve put together a list of eight ways that feng shui can help generate more flow &#8211; and that means more success and more sales for you.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">1. Put money first. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">When it comes to your business, money should always come first. Why? Well, because you&#8217;re in business. Emails can wait, filing can wait, but money can&#8217;t. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Write your bills every Monday and every day ask yourself if the activities you&#8217;re doing are money-generating. Busy doesn&#8217;t always equal financially productive &#8211; so do those things that are and delegate the busy work to someone else.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">2. Water is wealth. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Make sure you are surrounded by financial energy and that energy&#8217;s element is water. Keep a clear, running and full fountain in your office to help keep you relaxed and stimulate business opportunities. North, the business opportunity sector, is also the direction associated with water. Adding metal here will also stimulate water energy &#8211; and that stimulates business and money from your business.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">3. Have a vision. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">What is your symbol of success? If you want to be the world&#8217;s best cookbook writer, then wrap some cookbooks in a cover with your name on it. Seeing is believing. Find a symbol that is meaningful for you and keep it where you can prominently see it while you work. Pick a symbol, any symbol and keep it in front of you. </span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">4. Feng shui your website. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Yes, feng shui can even be applied to bytes and pixels! I often see businesses that have websites whose colors conflict, such as red and silver, green and beige, or green and yellow. These are color combinations that fatigue visitors &#8211; meaning the website is less sticky and more likely to be abandoned and with fewer repeat visitors. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">That&#8217;s because these color combinations make your website work against itself &#8211; and that gets you nowhere. Select feng shui compatible color combinations. This would include blue, black, and white or yellow, purple, and red, or green, black, and blue. Not sure about your site? Call me for a feng shui assessment of your website to check your color combination.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">5. Open communication. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Sales depend on making it as easy as possible for the customer to reach you. Get yourself a 1-800 number, a fax number, and a land-line if you&#8217;re in business. Interestingly, when I moved from a cell phone as my primary business phone and got all the other lines installed, I began receiving many more calls. Think of it this way: no talk, no sales; more talk, more sales!</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">6. Get more clients. </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Many &#8220;solopreneurs&#8221; have a poor filing system (if any). Make sure you have a file cabinet with a specified drawer just for client files &#8212; and keep your clients in red folders; this energizes the client and keeps them in contact with you (read: repeat customer!). </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">When you want more clients, have three blank folders on your desk at all times, just ready for the next one. Also, get a label maker and make a label for each new customer. The more respect you give to your customer files, the more customers you&#8217;ll have.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">7. Beauty pays you.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">If you&#8217;re a work at home entrepreneur, chances are you may have a less-than-inspiring work area. Invest in your office and make it attractive, organized, and functional. Having a beautiful work space is motivating and encourages creativity. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">When you are surrounded by beauty and inspiring views, objects, or artwork, you are more likely to think creatively, come up with new approaches to your business, and be more productive &#8211; and that makes you more money!</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">8. Use the Power of One.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">One is the number of opportunity and money from business in feng shui. There is probably one thing that you could do to instantly make a difference in your business. What is it? For some, it would be to create that first product, for others it would mean publishing your book, and for others it might be making sales calls. But, chances are you know the one thing that&#8217;s standing in the way of your success. Get to work on just that one thing. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">You know what it is. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Do it now and put it ahead of everything else.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2439" title="pile-of-books1" src="http://www.iawbo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/pile-of-books1-187x300.jpg" alt="pile-of-books1" width="187" height="300" />One of the biggest hurdles I personally faced in business was to STOP searching for more and more information. You see, I&#8217;m an idea person. I LOVE to research, read and learn. In a short time, I had amassed hundreds of eBooks, audio programs, courses, print books, articles, podcasts, magazine and ezine subscriptions. You name it, I probably had it.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">A LARGE percentage of these materials I had acquired for free. I collected EVERYTHING from what was relevant right now to things that might be relevant “someday”. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Entrepreneurs call these kinds of freebies <strong>“pink spoons”…</strong> like the sweet little pink spoon samples you can get at an ice cream shop when trying to decide what flavour of cone you want to buy.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Now it&#8217;s one thing to build a valuable resource library or to be a collector of such materials but I had gone way beyond the norm and it had begun to derail my success. </span></span></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">I had become a Pink Spoon Collector!!</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">And when it came time to making a business or marketing decision I was <strong>overloaded and overwhelmed</strong> by a plethora of ideas and options. I was being pulled in too many directions. The amount of time and energy I wasted just trying to make decisions was astronomical.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">What I realized was the abundance of information was actually holding me back. In order to make powerful and quick decisions that drive my business forward (and in a way that supports my lifestyle goals)&#8230; less really is more.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The time had come for me to whittle down my &#8220;collection&#8221; to the essentials. I prioritized, reorganized and set boundaries that empower me. Now, I only keep information, resources and subscriptions that support my authentic definition of success and marketing focus and address where I’m at – right now. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Once I purged the irrelevant my and focus renewed. I was able to make quick decisions again which by the way, is a known quality of successful people and I had more time to spend on productive marketing activities; I was moving forward again.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The idea of less is more can also be applied to your networking efforts. All too often, people attend networking events randomly and collect as many business cards as possible thinking they actually made a connection. At the end of the year they have hundreds of business cards and contact information cataloged in a database of some kind (maybe).</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">But, where is the value in a collection of random contacts? Real value stems from taking the time and effort to get to know the people on the cards you do collect, to find commonalities, to explore working together, to be introduced to their networks, to stay in touch, and to solidify mutually beneficial relationships.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Oh and by the way, this advice translates just as well to the online world and social networks like Twitter and Facebook.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Action TIP: </strong>Evaluate your database on a regular basis to weed out the fluff and make room for people of like mind. Someone once told me to think of my database or rolodex as premium real estate. People you haven&#8217;t spoken to in years or can&#8217;t remember at all are just taking up valuable space. In the end, your database may have gotten smaller but the quality and value will be much, much higher.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="font-size: medium;">So think about how the idea of less is more can remove some confusion and overwhelm in your life or business. Do whatever you need to do to prioritize, re-organize and set boundaries that empower you rather than hold you back.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2339" title="Check_List_Done" src="http://www.iawbo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Check_List_Done-300x199.jpg" alt="Check_List_Done" width="300" height="199" />A majority of the entrepreneurs who come to me struggle to find enough time to fit in everything they want to do. They often feel overwhelmed, unable to keep up with the details of their business or never finding enough spaciousness to develop the next stage of their mission. Does this sound familiar?</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;">Two principles to remember that make all the difference in the world are <strong>Priority</strong> and <strong>Presence.</strong></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;"><strong>Prioritization</strong> comes from knowing that we have the gift of time in front of us to extend our reach. Not everything has to be done right now, even when our internal sense of urgency tries to convince us otherwise.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;">Don&#8217;t try to work from a to-do list of 100 things; split them into short-term, medium-term, and long-term priorities. Use a <strong>&#8220;just-in-time&#8221; philosophy</strong> and map out your schedule based on when things are truly needed, and consider which things can be delegated so that you can focus on the high-value items right now.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;"><strong>Presence</strong> in the moment allows us to stay in contact with the source of our inner guidance, so that we can continue to express our deepest values while responding to changing circumstances. If you let yourself become <em>demand-driven rather than presence-directed</em>, you will be caught up in the prevailing culture of unceasing activity and you&#8217;ll make choices that are not purposeful for you.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;">What can you do to bring more prioritization and presence into your workweek? Consider weekly planning meetings that move you out of problem-solving mode and into strategic thinking on a regular basis. Build a rhythm of breaks into your workday that give you a natural pause to step back into full presence.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;">Take advantage of your creativity to design something you&#8217;ll not only enjoy but use regularly. One of my clients created a ritual that whenever her phone rang, she would take two deep breaths before answering.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #333333;">Have fun with the process, suit your own style, and allow yourself the spaciousness and efficiency that&#8217;s possible with a priority- and presence-directed business.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-2079" src="http://www.iawbo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/stand_out-300x289.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="289" />One of the most basic but most important pieces of your social networking presence is having <strong>an <span style="text-decoration: underline;">effective</span> profile</strong>.  Not only is it a snapshot into who you are and what it is you do, it&#8217;s usually <strong>the first impression others will have of you</strong>. </span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Here are some ways to make your profile work for you and get you noticed&#8211;without boring people to tears.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Use a real photo of yourself. </strong>On certain sites you occasionally see people using their brand logo as their picture or avatar but I advise against this.  You want others to relate to you as a real person, especially if they are thinking of hiring or buying from you!  In most cases, that is something you just can&#8217;t convey through a graphic.  (Unless maybe you are Coca-Cola!)</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;">By all means, use a <strong>professional photo</strong> if possible.  If not, you should choose one that is of you alone&#8211;with all due respect to your family and pets.  If you are using social sites to even remotely drum up business, you need to appear professional as far your main photo goes.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Location, location, location.</strong> Include at the very least your state, province or town.  Even though it is the world wide web, you never know when local opportunities will pop up.  Make it easy for others to seek you out.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Have a well thought-out bio.</strong> Your bio is what people will be looking to in order to get the essence of what you are all about.  You can include a succinct version of your &#8220;elevator pitch&#8221; here as long as you avoid sounding too sales-y.  When you read it back to yourself you should be able to get a feel for how it comes off.  Adjust accordingly.  Write it with an emphasis on how you provide value to others.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Include all of your relevant links. </strong> You want to give people an easy way to find out more about you.  Plus, there&#8217;s no one who doesn&#8217;t want more web traffic, right?  The amount of space you are allotted for this varies from site to site, but definitely include your website and/or blog as well as the profile URLs of any other social networking sites you are active on.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Use your full name if possible.</strong> Depending on the site, you may or may not have room to fit your whole name.  Also, if your name is common, it may have already been taken, such as on a site like Twitter.  In the case of my full name, I went with my first name and last initial on Twitter because they don&#8217;t allow enough characters for both words to fit.   I am satisfied with that, however, because people are still able to associate it closely with my full name.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Personal tidbits are not a bad thing. </strong>Don&#8217;t be shy, there is a reason it&#8217;s called social networking!  Some people are reticent about exposing anything about themselves outside of their business persona.  However, part of what draws others to you is your authentic self.  You may have a snazzy professional profile photo, but posting pictures here and there of your latest vacation won&#8217;t do any harm.  In fact, it could be great for business.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Fill out your background completely.</strong> Part of what helps others find you is the information that you fill out about your education, interests, past employment and groups and associations you belong to.  This is especially true on a site like LinkedIn.  Keep your information up to date so that opportunities can easily find you.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The most important takeaway? <strong>Ensure your presence is consistent across all networks.</strong> This not only strengthens your personal brand, but helps to establish credibility as well. Plus, to make it even easier on yourself, keep a document on your computer with all of your profile information.  That way you can just copy and paste it when needed.</span></span></p>
