Optimize Your Facebook Marketing with INTENTION


I’m so excited to let you know Nika Stewart the Laptop Mom is  our guest expert this week for both:

One of the big frustrations Nika and I hear from our clients is that “Facebook can be a huge waste of time.”

Yes it definitely can BUT, not if you start with INTENTION. The rest of this article is a guest post from Nika.

Don’t waste another second on Facebook if you aren’t clear on your intention. Your intention affects your actions.  When you have a clear intent, you are much more likely to reach your goals.

So what is your Facebook Intention?

Here are some ideas of intentions that can be easily achieved and effective on Facebook:

* Building your Brand: If you want to evoke specific impressions of your company’s branding, make sure that everything you post and everything you do is in line with your image.

* Driving traffic to your blog: Post compelling titles and exciting summaries that link to specific posts on your blog.

* Getting offline media attention: Connect with people in the media, pr agents, publicity specialists.  Make sure your posts are newsworthy, and show that you are a true expert in a very specific niche.

* Fostering word of mouth: Connect with your current and past clients.  Connect with their friends.  Join in their conversations.  See what they are talking about, and add value.

* Gathering a tribe of ideal prospects: Join groups that include your target audience.  ‘Like’ pages of related topics.  Post valuable, generous tips often.

* Search engine optimization: The search engines love social media because it is constantly updated.  Post status updates often, and use the keywords that your ideal prospects are searching for.

* Educating yourself: Listen to what your customers and prospects are talking about.  Ask them what they need.  Join in conversations.  Then use this knowledge to improve your business offerings.

Yes, you can “build your business” on Facebook, but not by doing it directly.  Promoting yourself all the time isn’t going to win you new clients.

NOW, TAKE ACTION: Get clear on your “sub-intention” (perhaps one of the intentions listed above?), focus your effort towards that goal, and watch your business grow naturally and authentically as a result. (It will feel really rewarding too!)

Take It Up a Notch (or ten) Series Part 1 of 10: A Don’t Just Do It REALLY Do It Challenge

If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll recognize the title of this blog “Don’t Just Do It… REALLY Do It” as one of my success mantras.

I rarely do anything for the fluff factor. (Fluff is for pillows!)

My goal – always – is to fully engage and take action like a pro. Kinda like George Bailey from the classic movie It’s a Wonderful Life. Have you seen it? It’s my all time favorite.

So you wont be surprised that this quote caught my eye the other day <grin>.

“After all is said & done, a lot more will have been said than done.” ~ Author Unknown

It got me thinking about how often this is the case. How knowing what to do doesn’t necessarily = actually doing it.

The how-to’s are not the issue. The internet, Google… it’s all at our finger tips 24/7. It’s the application of the how-to’s that has become the problem.

So I want to challenge YOU – the amazing success-driven women in business online that I love to motivate – to pay very close attention to the possible disconnect between your goals and the actual steps you are taking to achieve them.

Check in with yourself… are you more committed to the success (you say) you desire or the comfort of the status quo?

And, let’s take it one step further, and I hope you’ll play with me on this by commenting below…

What is ONE purposeful action you can take this week to really lean in and show up like you mean it doing something better or bigger than ever before (or have been putting off entirely)?
